Welcome to Pure Aloha Yoga
The Meaning of Pure Aloha.
Pure: free from anything of a different, inferior, or contaminating kind; free from extraneous matter.
Aloha: Commonly used for greetings, farewells, and in expression of love. However it is more than just a word. It is a way of life. Besides the common meanings, the word Aloha holds within itself all one need to know to interact rightfully in the natural world. These insights describe an attitude or way of life sometimes called 'The Aloha Spirit' or 'The way of Aloha'. The spirit of Aloha was an important lesson taught to the children of the past because it was about the world of which they were apart. One early teaching is such: 'Aloha is being apart of all, and all being apart of me. When there is joy it is also mine. I respect all that is part of the Creator and part of me. I will not willfully harm anyone or anything. When food is needed, I will take only my need and explain why it is being taken. The earth, the sky, the sea are mine to care for, to cherish and to protect. This is the Hawaiian meaning of 'Aloha'. The joyful sharing of lifes energy in the present moment. Acquiring Mana or Spiritual influence to use in manifesting. Aloha is indeed a way of life, an attitude and it even contains guidelines to help us in our lives. The next time you greet a friend with "Aloha" hold its meaning close to your heart and think of the picture you are painting.

Pre India, I had already an established name which was Mahina Yoga.
Mahina: The Hawaiian word for moon (mahina) also means month and moonlight, symbols usually associated with women. Each form of Hina is the personification of the feminine, and the many Hinas represent the many aspects of the feminine. She is even sometimes referred to as another manifestation of Pele, further stressing the fact that it is the personification of this feminine deity that is important for the Hawaiians, not the specifics. Worshipped as creatrix, mother, protector, and sometimes wrathful destroyer, her many manifestations as different goddesses highlight the power and mystery of the feminine. In most cultures, the moon has feminine implications. Hina represents strength and standing for what you believe in. She is the feminine power personified as conviction and is known for being headstrong. With determination and creativity, your wildest dreams are possible.
You may wonder why I have changed the name after having found a name that endures so much power for woman ... It was India, India changed it all and turned everything up on it head - literally !
Once spending time over there and enduring the magical place of Rishikesh, I had connected with some amazing souls. My fab five guru group which consisted for two other fellow Aussies, a Mexican and an American. Each of them had their own unique personality, had endured their own remarkable journey and are still doing so and each had their own unique and extremely special qualities about them.
I had met many other special souls, classmates, teachers, shop keepers, locals, and local children (one in which my souls sister, Mirenchu and I 'adopted'.) He was the dearest little thing and he had come to me on a rather remarkable time. He had approached me asking if I wanted flowers as offerings to the Mama Ganga, to accompany my prayers if I had had any and help them guide my prayers to where they were going.
Another special soul I had met, we had an instant connection. Meeting on a stairwell full of monkeys. His inquisitive nature to approach the monkeys as I had been running down them, leading me to yelp. Being such a gentle soul, he had informed me that 'they will not hurt you'. From that moment on we would bump into each other everywhere and spend most time in our Ashram, enjoying chats together and gentle hugs when days were tough, ongoing invitations to explore waterfalls and the forever obsession with going for a ride on his motorbike. Besides the constant bumping in together, we had figured out that we were both being from the same home town. This made him feel like home when the days would come around of being home sick. He had no boundaries, thoughts were purely from the heart and gave nothing but pure love with a touch of innocence. This guy inspired me and being a sag also intrigued me. I remember as a surprise for one of my fab fives Birthdays, he had come with his friends and sang, danced and played songs to celebrate. It was a grand random night for both us and them, sharing laughter, songs, dance and cake right until the very end and walking me home as a polite gentleman does.
The very last time I saw him was in line at the atm, as india had cancelled all the big notes, we had had trouble accessing money a lot of the time. He had been riding past on his motorbike and stop to say heyyyy ;) and tell me he was leaving that night and to try catch up later on. However being from the same home town we would catch up when I returned which was in another ten days or so. If only I had known this would be the last that I would see him. As a couple of days later after his return home, I had news from one of my friends and classmates that his friend was walking the streets looking for footage of him, extremely frazzled. They had waited all day to tell me the news... It was after Hatha class and everyone had left the room. I didn't want to believe it. I couldn't move. I tried to contact his friend to ask if it was real or if it was a joke. My heart was so heavy and my eyes full of tears with a unbearable nose that could not let in anymore air. My Philosophy, Anatomy, Pranayama teacher took me down to the River, Mama Ganga and we prayed. I'll never forget this moment, as it changed me for life. I sit here now, still with tears in my eyes reliving the moments. However my teacher informed me that life has something bigger planned and these events have happened for a reason, whether it was from being hit by a cow (this is a story for another time) or the loss of a soul. Think of it as a nudge, when a mother bird nudges its baby birds out of the nest. It's time to fly. Your journey begins now. The water of the Mama G slipped through our hands and we had a final moment of silence. Here the birth of a whole new understanding of love was born, love through the pure heart, unconditional, and love through meditation as we prayed.
Five months later, I still wake up and find the time to meditate, I am reminded everyday of this soul. His passing happened right on the creek where I live. Everyday I am in this creek, I swim, I surf, I paddle, I conduct my SUP Yoga classes here. I conduct my Yoga by the creek classes here. By coincidence did this all happen? I am still yet to know the full meaning of all of this. However my heart is open and it is happy.
I hold this close to my heart, the sharing of the love to create bonds of love that are not motivated by self interest, that seek to help increase awareness to the divine, and to help others discover the pure love within themselves, to open it up so they too can shine it upon the world and everyone they connect with. Upon theses events, this is where Pure Aloha was born. In happy memory of G.B.
"Pure love is the highest benediction for all mankind and Harinama is the means to invite that love into our hearts and project it into the hearts of all"
